Elaboration of Metallic Materials by SPS: Processing, Microstructures, Properties, and Shaping

After a few decades of increasing interest, spark plasma sintering (SPS) has now become mature powder metallurgy technique, which allows assessing its performances toward fabricating enhanced materials. Here, the case metals and alloys will be presented. The main advantage SPS lies in rapid heating capability enabled by application high intensity electric currents to metallic powder. This presents numerous advantages balanced some limitations that addressed this review. first section devoted issues, with an emphasis on effect current densification mechanisms. Then, typical as-SPS microstructures properties In cases, they compared materials processed conventional techniques. As such, examples nanostructured materials, intermetallics, glasses, entropy alloys, Finally, implementation as technique manufacture complex, near-net shape industrial parts discussed.
